Poppy Talk is a Canadian blog dedicated to handmade and vintage design, it’s really good, you should check it out. Each year they announce the winners of The Poppy Awards for artists and shops in different categories. I was immediately drawn to the best vintage shop category and had to compulsively check each and everyone of the nominees, just for fun. Tons of beautiful and inspiring items. I was especially impressed by the Russian green bag for eggs (!) – genius (Oleg said they had one when they lived back in Russia).

In a strange mood. Watched ‘The Sopranos’ while drawing this thing (obviously).

Why Should One Get Married

Saturday, January 30th, 2010

One of the nice things about being married is knowing there’s always (or at least for a while) someone to take care of you when you’re ill. It’s part of the deal! This is Oleg, sick, last week. For some reason I can never draw him right and he turns out looking half crazy…

A Drawing a Day Keeps the Doctor Away?

Apparently not. I’m so weak It’s hard for me to hold my pencil. Hopefully tomorrow I’ll be better, I feel bad for neglecting the blog.

A Saturday Visit to My Parents’ House pt.2

Monday, January 25th, 2010

One of the things I always do when I visit my parents, is rummaging through the closets, looking for old clothes and other forgotten objects. This time I found this light blue button down shirt that is made of the softest fabric. I’m constantly looking for my mother’s old clothes, she always looks stylish in her pictures from the 60′s and 70′s (it’s so strange: I just noticed I have a very similar bag to the one she’s holding in the picture below).

F.E.A.R

Friday, January 22nd, 2010

Every new project involves a leap of faith. I have so many fears regarding this blog, because I have so many expectations. With this post I want to remind myself to take it easy. And on a more positive note: I’m currently working on a new doll, hopefully tomorrow I’ll be able to show it to you.

Stormy Weather

Friday, January 22nd, 2010

The weather is so depressing right now, all I feel like doing is getting into bed and curl up. It’s so strange, winter’s supposed to be my favorite season. Maybe last summer was so nice, it’s hard for me to let go.

Joy, passion, intoxication

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

I’m currently reading (again, otherwise it doesn’t stick to my brain) Flaubert’s ‘Madame Bovary’. When I leaf through French Vogue I turn into a little Emma, fantasizing about lounging lazily in a dark blue Lanvin dress, drinking champagne in my fabulous Paris apartment. Actually lounging lazily in my Tel Aviv apartment, leafing through French Vogue isn’t that bad either. Another Bovary inspired piece coming soon.
