Sometimes it feels like I’m drawing the same image over and over again, but right now I don’t really care.

Sylvia, can you read my mind?

“I have the choice of being constantly active and happy or introspectively passive and sad.

Or I can go mad by ricocheting in between.” (From Sylvia Plath’s diary)

And a gorgeous Lou Reed song about another Sylvia…

It’s Been a While

I wanted to share this illustration I did for this week’s Ha’aretz newspaper. The article was about older people returning to university after establishing careers, families and so on.

When drawing the portrait I kept thinking of Manfred Herbst from Shai Agnon’s beautiful book, Shira. It was the book I was reading last week when I got the comission. It has nothing to do with the article (except for the theme of ‘university’), but Herbst got into my blood.

As I write this I realize how much I miss communicating through blogging, it’s been a while… My short vacation got longer than anticipated, and it’s still not over…
