This jacket is a traditional Ukrainian costume made from natural sheep wool. And it’s very very warm… Oleg’s parents gave it to me for my birthday. I’m 32 today, how weird!
This birthday I feel just how much I carry with me old complications. Very old ones.
In many ways I’m still a teenager. It’s kind of ridiculous.
Anyway… As a gift to myself I’ll play one of the most listened to songs on my i-tunes: Coney Island Baby by Lou Reed (loud volume recommended even-though it’s a slow one).
PS. I love how this blog is starting to have a history. This is last year’s birthday post.
In Search for Something Gentle

Been reading Günter Grass’ The Tin Can. I read it very slowly to make it last longer.
I Wanted to dedicate an illustration to the book ↑, but more than anything, the outcome reminds me of The White Stripes (I’ve been brainwashed by cool band graphics).
This ↓ is the first White Stripes song I loved, The Union Forever (it was burned on a legendary mix-CD given to me by a guy I really wanted but really couldn’t get).

Couple Of Drawings
Thursday, April 14th, 2011
Shelly and Elon Satat-Kombor, the talented shoe designers behind Couple Of, asked me to draw the shoes from their 2011 summer collection. What a treat!
The collection’s theme is “Urban Jungle”, inspired by wild animals (a parrot, a zebra, a fish!). I obviously took it in a more homely direction, thinking about the porches of Tel-Aviv.
It was a pleasure to draw because the shapes of the shoes are so interesting, and Shelly and Elon were the best clients, letting me do whatever I felt like. An illustrator’s dream…
A Dream
Wednesday, April 13th, 2011Last night I dreamt a war has started, and I was made to join the army for two years again.
They gave me my old uniform back, with the Sergent stripes loosely sewn on the left sleeve.
Being back in the army truly is a nightmare, I was completely helpless (although there was one millisecond of satisfaction, when the uniform pants from when I was 18 still fit).
