Hospital Diary 27/11/11

Sunday, February 26th, 2012

Translation:

I dreamt Oleg and I were walking inside a dream of one of us (I think it was mine). We walk through a flat wilderness, once in a while a strange figure passes by us, or a galloping horse. I say to him: “why not? Let’s hang out a bit in our subconscious”.

Not very inspired these days. It’s hard to concentrate with everything that’s going on.

Translation:

It’s a wintery morning / we’re listening to James Blake / with the added beat / of the Magnesium drop counter

Hospital Diary – Thursday

Sunday, February 19th, 2012

Parts of this page was drawn during one sleepless night, when I was given something against the pain “with some opiates in it”. I expected it would make me sleep but actually I felt very alert and saw weird faces, body parts, primitive statues etc. in the creases of the bed sheets.

Hospital Diary 23/11/11

Tuesday, February 14th, 2012

The diary started two days after Jonathan’s birth, and one day after hearing the bad news.

My feet were huge and swollen, my head was surprisingly clear.

Where have you been? What have you seen?

It’s been three months since I last blogged. I find that unbelievable. So many things changed in my life, and drawing was impossible. It still is, but I’m working on it.

I’ve been planning this “getting back to it” post for so long, and I have so many versions of it in my head, to the point where I don’t even know where to start.

We’ll make it easy: I gave birth to our beautiful baby, Jonathan, in November. He’s lovely and healthy and keeps us up at night :). After the birth I was hospitalized for a long time because of a serious illness that was found in my body. I’m not quite ready to share all the details yet, but you will probably understand more as time passes.

While in the hospital I worked a little on a daily diary, so I will start by posting parts of that.

Today’s image is a snapshot from Living In The Material World, Scorsese’s film about George Harrison. Was planning on drawing it, but couldn’t.

(Hope anyone is out there still, and I’m not just talking to myself. Although that’s OK too :)
