The Lightness I Miss

Oh, and I really couldn’t resist making a little animation out of this…

Independence Day

Tuesday, May 10th, 2011

Today is Israel’s independence day. This usually brings up a lot of mixed emotions in my left-winged brain. Here is something my good friend Nir Golan did as a party invitation for yesterday, but I think it’s so thought provoking it exceeds its original purpose…

Other than that – the party was great. I finally saw my friends after a long long time. I’ve been acting like a hermit lately. Not healthy at all. Hope you’re all OK.

Just a Reminder

Monday, February 7th, 2011

Just a reminder about the Pecha-Kucha night coming in two days.

Yes, I realize it’s so not cool how I only blog about this lately, and that I’m supposed to at least try to keep a cool appearance, but I think all the hard work wore off my nonchalance.

What can I do, I’ve been consumed! Hope you understand my excitement though :)

This beautiful video was made by Jewboy, who will also perform on Wednesday night.

NCDC* Project: Unknown Pleasures

Monday, November 22nd, 2010

I first heard a Joy Division song on mix tape given to me when I was 17 or so (thank god for big sisters and their boyfriends). It was exactly what I needed at that time.

I bought Unknown Pleasures, their first album, and was blown away. Still am – it’s brilliant.

Of course the genius cover design by Peter Saville didn’t hurt either.
Ian Curtis is one of those musicians that really touch me deeply with his lyrics and voice.

Do you, dear reader, happen to have a memory or a story related to Unknown Pleasures or Joy Division in general? I would love to read about it if you feel like sharing.

Big Plans

Sunday, August 22nd, 2010

So I decided to take a little vacation from blogging, for a week or two.

I need some time to refresh my eyes and find what I want to do next art-wise.

Plans include: going to the Tel-Aviv Museum of Art and the renovated Israel Museum in Jerusalem, watching a children’s movie with my niece, swimming in the sea (at night) and drawing and writing in my sketchbook (optional plan include cleaning the house).

I’ll leave for now with No Fun by Iggy Pop and the Stooges, which describe pretty well my current vacation-craving mood. See you real soon!
